But as they are books of qu ite d ifferent natures, they classify the genres in different w ays. The L iterary M ind and the Carv ing D rag on, as a theoretic work, stud ies and expounds the historical developm ent and creative features of various genreswh ileZhaom ing W enx- uan, as an anthology, ami s to include in it the best and most representative works of various genres. The for- mer approaches the genres in light of literary theoryw hile the latter in light of creation. The form er, based on theory, would discuss anyw ork, good or bad, if they have theoreticm ean ingsw hile the latter, based on crea- tion, would only pick out good works and exclude those genresw here no good w ork is available.
