Mark Twain (1835 -1910) Mark Twain was an American writer, journalist and humorist who won a worldwide audience for his stories of the youthful , adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. 马克·吐温故居  马克·吐温博物馆外观 Early life experience Born in a little town in Mississippi,in 1835 At 11, he lost his father At 13, he stopped schooling Printer’s apprentice(学徒) Tramp printer（印刷工） In 1866 he went east, where he met Howells and married Olivia Langdon Clemens, daughter of a New York coal magnate(富豪) River pilot on the Mississippi（领航员） Confederate guerrilla（邦联游击队员） Prospector（采矿者） a frontier journalist in Nevada and California Traveler abroad His Later Life There are many tragic events in his later life: the failure of his investments, his fatiguing travels and lectures in order to pay off his debts, and added to this, the death of his wife and two daughters which left him absolutely inconsolable(伤心地). Some critics link these tragic events with the change of style in his later works, from an optimist and humorist to an almost despairing determinist（决定论者）. His Death Mark Twain died of illness (heart attack) on April 21, 1910.
