As Anderson puts it「Reading is an essential skill for English as a second/foreign language students and for many, reading is the most important skill to master/XAnderson,2004:1). And the New English Curriculum Standards for Senior Middle School states, Senior Middle School English aims to develop students? comprehension in reading and improve their comprehension in listening, speaking, writing?9 It is obvious that the syllable focuses more on reading than any other skills. But the traditional reading teaching tends to be teacher-centered, students are passive to learn. Teachers only emphasize the vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and translation. As a result of, students know little about the relationship between sentence and sentence and are unable to analyze the structure by themselves. If this phenomenon continues for a long time, it will cause the students to lose interest and confidence, so that the reading is more difficult for them. So it is urgent to find a suitable reading strategy. Exactly meta-cognitive strategies with its vital merits in English reading can solve the problems.
