Honeywell TPE331-14 turboprop engine
- Single-engine aircraft installation
Problem:
- High broadband noise levels at the ground idle operating condition
- Concerns regarding ramp noise exposure for passengers
Goal:
- Suppress lower-frequency broadband noise to acceptable levels at
ground idle
- Frequency range: 800-5,000 Hz

Geometry of the Inlet Duct
Typical TPE331 turboprop installation for single-engine aircraft:
- Single, short inlet duct positioned below the propeller shaft
- Inlet duct directs air flow into the engine compressor
- Compressor noise propagates forward and radiates outward from duct
