Structural-Acoustic Analysis with ABAQUS Note: This workshop provides instructions in terms of the ABAQUS Keywords interface. If you wish to use the ABAQUS GUI interface instead, please see the “Interactive” version of these instructions. Please complete either the Keywords or Interactive version of this workshop. Goals When you complete this workshop, you will be able to: Create structural-acoustic models with the part/instance/assembly paradigm. Use the ?TIE option to couple the structural and acoustic response at a mesh interface. Define an impedance acting at the interface between a structural mesh and an acoustic mesh. Define simple point sound sources within an acoustic mesh. Perform a fully coupled structural-acoustic steady-state dynamic analysis. Perform a sequentially coupled steady-state dynamic analysis on a weakly coupled structural-acoustic system. Introduction: This workshop will use the example of a truck cab to introduce procedures that are available in ABAQUS for modeling the interaction between acoustic and structural systems. Situations in which the cab is being excited structurally by mechanical forces or acoustically by a set of internally mounted loudspeakers will be used to demonstrate the analysis of fully coupled structural-acoustic systems. Sequential analysis techniques for modeling weakly coupled structural-acoustic systems will also be demonstrated. Here, the structural analysis is followed by an acoustic analysis. The air within the truck cab, as well as a region of air outside the cab, will be included in the workshop examples. Figure W3–1 summarizes the three main parts that make up the truck-cab structural-acoustic model used in this workshop. The model utilizes a single plane of symme
