A Survey of Modern Medicine The history of modern medicine: In ancient Greece, the disease was considered to be divine castigation. With the passage of time, medicine moved further and further away from religion and magic. Before the Renaissance, medicine is stagnant, one of reasons was that the only fit pursuit for scholars in these centuries was considered to be knowledge of God, not of man. After with the flowering of humanism that characterized the Renaissance , in the history of modern medicine embraced the advent of the great milestones which included elucidation of human anatomy and physiology, discovery of cells and their substructures, development of anesthesia, elucidation of inheritance and genetics, knowledge of immune system, development of body imaging, discovery of antimicrobial agents and so on. Current advances and trend in modern medicine : Modern medicine with its specialties and branches increasing and research scope enlarging encompasses all technologies and knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology that will facilitate diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The magical curative effect of traditional medicine, especially of Traditional Chinese Medicine is leading to a new model for modern medicine－the combination of western medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Naturopathy and homeopathty are coming into fashion. Corresponding to holistic health, complementary ( or intergrative or holistic) medicine which visualize the body as a whole is becoming a trend all over the world.
