* * This slide reflects the Cisco Data Center portfolio of products and the associated management products. These products either use virtualization or were developed with virtualization in mind. The Nexus 7000 supports Virtual Device Contexts, allowing 4 instances of NXOS to operate independently and simultaneously on the same box. The nexus 5000 supports a unified fabric that enables Fibre Channel and Ethernet simultaneously on the same 10G connection. The Nexus 2000 is an extension of the Nexus 5000 that supports 1 G connectivity (though it does not support FCOE). The Nexus 1000 is a virtual switch created specifically for virtualized servers that enables the movement of those servers within a data center. We’ll talk about why that’s important later in the presentation. The Catalyst 6500 supports virtualization with multiple contexts in the Firewall Services Module and ACE load balancing module. The MDS products support virtual SANs and NPV (network port virtualization) and NPIV (N Port Identifier Virtualization). ACE appliances also support multiple contexts and the WAAS products enable optimization of VMware’s VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). And of course, the reason we are talking today, the new Cisco Unified Computing System. A purpose built architecture designed specifically to enable server virtualization and Data Center scaling. Why is this important?
