英语学科教学设计 Module 4 Unit 2 Sports Events Reading Ⅰ 课 题 课型 ( The Olympic Games ) Analysis of teaching material  This unit mainly discusses the sports events, the Olympic Games and the attitudes toward the matches. This class is the first period of reading. The passage“ The Olympic Games” talks about the history and significance of the Olympic Games, which is the main topic of this unit. It is the foundation and core of this unit, that is, the most fundamental and important part. According to the new Curriculum Criteria, I decide to adopt Task-based Learning. The students will be given tasks to talk about the Olympic Games home and abroad and express their attitudes toward holding the Olympic Games. In this way, not only will the students learning motivation be greatly stimulated, but also their communication skills will be effectively improved. Meanwhile, they will appreciate the Olympic spirits, and hold a positive attitude towards these famous athletes mentioned in the passage. The New Curriculum Reform also requires the student to obtain and analysis the information in English by summarization and reasoning. It is a challenge for the students. I decide to use charts to break through the difficult points in this period. Just as the Constructivism suggests, tables can clearly show the relation between the information and will make it easier for the students to understand the language points. Knowledge aim: Understanding the history and significance of the Olympic Games. Ability aims: 1) To improve students ’ability of getting information by task-based reading . Teaching aims 2) To summary the difference between ancient and modern Olympic Games in their own words. To master some useful vocabularies and phrases. Emotional aims: Increase students’awareness of the history and significance of the Olympic Games. Make the students proud of our Chinese Olympians.
