Lesson Design Traffic Jam = 1 \* ROMAN I. Background information 1.1 The Analysis of the Teaching Material The recorded content is an introduction to the traffic jam in module 2 from Student’s Book 4 of New Standard English. Type of Lesson: Speaking (Pre-reading) Topic: Traffic Jam Language function: Talk about different means of transport and their advantages and disadvantages. 1.2 The Analysis of the Students 1) The students are new senior high school students. They have learned English at least for three and a half years so that they have some basic knowledge of English. They are also active in thinking and dare to make different opinions. 2) Students are familiar with different means of transport in their daily life. 3) With the help of multimedia and varies of teaching activities including group work, discussion and designing posters, students will be fully engaged in the class and become interested in this lesson. 1.3 lesson Duration 10 minutes = 2 \* ROMAN II. Teaching Objectives 2.1 Language Knowledge By the end of the class, students are supposed to: be familiar with more different means of transport and their definitions. have a better understanding of the means of transport and make some comments on them. 2.2 Language Skills By the end of this lesson, students are supposed to: 1) talk about advantages and disadvantages of different means of transport. 2) make a poster about means of transport getting around their town. 3) use English to cooperate and communicate with group members to finish a task. 2.3 Values and Attitudes By the end of this lesson, students are supposed to: Choose the most convenient, energy-saving transport in their daily life. 2.4 Learning Strategies By the end of this lesson, students are supposed to: introduce the transport and their advantages and disadvantages in a logical way. learn to share the knowledge or information with group members. = 3 \* ROMAN III.
