Its upstream is joined by Ula River and Daobi River, which both originate from the Southwest slope of Sikhote-Alin, and they run to the northeast part in Khabarovsk to meet the Heilong River. The Wusuli River is 909 kilometers long (565 miles), and the drainage area is 187,000 square kilometers (72,200 square miles). The river surface is vast, and the water velocity is slow. The river has a frost period of about 5 months per year. The part below the estuary of Ula River is open to navigation traffic The Wusuli River National Forest Park situates on the east border area, where there is the left bank of the Wusuli River which is the boundary river between China and Russia. The total area of the park is 25069 hectares. It is a comprehensive ecotypic forest park with multifunctions of sightseeing, entertainment, leisure and science education. In the park, there is the vast shining Wusuli River, and Yueya Lake which is a unique scenic of the North with 1000 mu of lotuses booming together in the enormous pool. The thick forest and the rare wild fauna and flora make the park a natural landscape. There is also a temple of Guan Yu found in Yong Zheng period of Qing Dynasty, which has a history of more than 250 years. It is the First Temple of the East.
