AfterconvertingtotheChurchofEngland,hebecamesecretarytoawealthymanwhoplannedtoadvancehim.DonnefellinlovewithAnneMore,hispatron’sniece,andsecretlymarriedher.DonnetookordersintheChurchofEnglandandbecameoneofthegreatpreachers

Annediedin1617,andDonnetransferredhisloveofhertoLoveofGodinhispoems.
