Course Information
Course Description
The E/C and C/E Translating Theories and Practice aims to introduce some basic knowledge about translating theories and skills, etc. presented systematically for student’s access. Besides, it still intends to fit in with other courses by presenting an enlarged vocabulary and advanced grammar.
Lectures just provide some instructions. Exercises and assignments are essential as a means of reinforcement.
Course Objectives
Students are expected to begin active acquisition and efficient application of translating theories and skills after this course. Moreover, the conscious appreciation of different versions of different translators is also a key concern in this regard.
Requirements
Course Prerequisites
It is necessary for the students to have fundamental knowledge in English lexicon and grammar.
Course Requirements
Students are expected to accomplish the Classroom Exercises by themselves and hand in monthly assignments.
Course Policies
Attendance and participation are very important. Contribution to group work and instructive suggestion to this course are encouraged and highly valued by providing extra credit, while constant missed assignments, late work and academic dishonesty would be punished by criticism or credit minus, unless reasonable excuses are presented.
