PAGE PAGE 6 1. M-O-T-H-E-R ~By Howard Johnson “M” is for the million things she gave me, “O” means only that she's growing old, “T” if for the tears she shed to save me, “H” is for her heart of purest gold, “E” is for her eyes, with love-light shinning, “R” means right, and right she'll always be. Put them all together, they spell “Mother”, A word that means the world to me. 2. When You Are Old When you are old and gray and full of sleep And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read, and dream of the soft look Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace, And loved your beauty with love false or true; But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars, Murmur, a little sadly, how love fled And paced upon the mountains overhead, And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. 3. O Captain! My Captain! ???????? Walt Whitman O Captain! My Captain! Our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won, ??? The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart!heart!heart! O the bleeding drops of red! Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain!rise up and hear the bells; Rise up -for you the flag is flung -for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon'd wreaths-for you the shores crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turing; Here, Captain!dear father! This arm beneath your head; It is some dream that on the deck You 've fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm , he has no pulse nor will; The ship is anchor'd safe and sound, its voyage closed and done; From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult, O shores!
