Abstract For studying on the composition and degradation characteristic of phenols in process of cok ing
w astew ater treatment, phenolsw ere extracted throughHLB solid phaseextraction ( SPE) cartridge and 15 k inds of
phenolsw ere analyzed by GC-M S selective ion scann ingmethod in th is research. The results show ed that average
recovery rate of 14 k inds of phenols ranged from 871 % to 10213% w h ile the recovery rate of phenol w as
721 %, and the relative standard deviationsw ere less than 71 2% , wh ich cou ld meet the standar for phenols
detection in the environment. The resu lts ind icated that pheno,l methylphenols and naphthols
