Lesson 40 The UN－The Power of Words ┃教学整体设计┃ 【教学目标】 1. 能够熟练掌握本课单词 situation ， agreement ， satisfy 及 短 语 suffer through/World War Ⅱ /the United Nations(UN)/instead of/the UN Security Council/permanent member countries/the Secretary-General/better than 的用法。 2. 通过本课的学习复习连词 but ， and， so， or 的用法。 3. 更深一步地灌输和平比战争更好的  理念。 4. 接触并了解联合国的存在及作用。 【教学重难点】 重点：掌握本课的重点词汇及短语。 难点：复习连词的用法。 【课前准备】 黑板，多媒体，录音机，配套磁带 ┃教学过程设计┃ 教学过程 一、创设情境，切入主题 Step 1 ：Warming up T： Words or war — which is more powerful? Ss： I think words are more powerful. T： Do you know there is an international organization which tries to prevent war What’s its name? Ss： Yes， I know.Its name is the UN. T： Yes， its name is the UN.But its full name is the United Nations.  ？ 设计意图：以对话形式开始新课，锻炼学生的口语。 二、展开过程，探究新知 Step 2 ：Presentation 1. 投影出示一些单词 snake ，lock ，situation ，agreement ，satisfy ，president ，provide ， passage 让学生说出它们的意思。其中包括已经学过的词汇和 situation ， agreement ， satisfy ， passage( 由于这四个词以前没有接触过，所以暂时放到一边 ) 。 2. 继续看复习题 1 中留下的未知项，即 situation ，agreement ，satisfy ，passage 。老师将 这三个词的汉语意思添加上去，教学生如何读，用这些单词造句并反复拼写，加以识记。 (1)situation n. 状况；形势；处境 Do you know the situation we are facing ？你知道我们所面临的形势吗？ (2)agreement n. 协议；同意，一致 Finally ， they reach an agreement. 最后，他们达成了一个协议。 (3)satisfy  v.  使满意；使满足 Are you satisfied with your English teacher  ？你对你的英语老师满意吗？ (4)passage  n. 章节，段落；通道，走廊 Read the first three passages by yourselves. 3. 阅读练习。让学生阅读课文，然后完成教材  首先自己读一下这三篇文章。 105 页的 Exercise 1 。 设计意图：要求学生自学，培养学生独立学习的意识。 分析讲解本课的短语。 (1)suffer through 熬过；挨过 (2)World War Ⅱ二战 (3)the United Nations(UN) 联合国 (4)instead of 代替，而不是 (5)the UN Security Council 联合国安理会 (6)permanent member countries 常任理事国 (7)the Secretary-General 秘书长 (8)better than 超过，多于，好于 设计意图：本课涉及到的短语比较多，单拿出来讲解便于学生对短语的理解和掌握。 Step 3 ：Drill Do Exercise 2 on Page 105. 设计意图：检查学生对新学词汇的掌握情况。 三、布置作业 Write a speech about preventing war ，and then present it. 设计意图：培养学生的写作能力。 ┃教学小结┃ 【板书设计】 Lesson 40 The UN— The Power of Words 2 Words： situation ，agreement ， satisfy ， passage Phrases ： 1.suffer th
