B: I’d like a large / medium / small bowl of noodles. c) Listening and speaking practice 2. Ability objects To train students’ ability of listening and communication. Teaching Focuses 1. To review how to order food; 2. To learn the key structures in this period; 3. To do listening practice. Teaching Procedures Step 1. Pre-listening Students look at the picture in 2a and say the names of the food. Step 2. While-listening Listen and check the names od the foods you hear. Listen again. Complete the sentences, Boy: I’d like a ________ bowl of noodles. I’d like _______, _____ and _____ noodles. Girl: I’d like a _________ bowl. I’d like _____ and _______ noodles, please. Listen for the third time and circle the sentences can be used to order food. Step 3. Post-listening 1. Ask and answer questions with your partner. Use the information in 2a. 2. Show the conversations of 2a on the big screen to the Ss. 3. Make a model for the Ss. T: What kind of noodles would you like? S1: I'd like beef noodles, please. … 3. Ss work in pairs and practice the conversations. Step 4. Role-play Students look at the picture in 2d and predict the questions: 1. Who are they? 2. Where are they?How do you know? 3. What are they doing? 2. Ask Ss to read the conversation in 2d and find the answer to this question: What would they like? (They would like one large bowl of beef soup, one gongbao chicken, and one mapo tofu with rice.) 3. Check the answers with the Ss. 4. Ss work with their partners and role-play the conversation. Step 5 Enjoy a video How to order food at a restuarant? Watch the video, add more sentences. Step 6 Make a new conversation There are some sentences you can use to help you. What would you like?
