Teaching and learning goals
(1) Train students’ ability of identifying main idea.
(2) Train students’ ability of understanding words in context.
(3) Train students’ ability of reading for special information.
Step1 Warming-up
1 Do you know what “hope” is and what “dream” is? Work in pairs to discuss the differences between a “hope” and a “dream” .
Explain that a hope is something we wish to happen in the future, and is attainable if certain things happen or are done. A dream is something
more out of ordinary, and often seems more unattainable.
Think of a hope and a dream, share them with the classmates .

Match the new words and phrases with the right meanings.

5 Listen to the recorder and read the text aloud
6 Explanation :
(1) dream of/about sth /doing sth 梦想(做)某事
